Vanmorgen op pad om eens het nieuwe "voetbalmonument" in Ploegsteert te fotograferen, in de hoop dat het wat minder druk ging zijn dan bij de inhuldiging...
daar aangekomen bleek dat er een "Christmas Truce" re-enactment aan de gang was. Normalerwijs niet zo mijn ding : maar zeer de moeite!
Was onder de indruk van het decor, de kostuums en het hoge realiteitsgehalte....
Ook een aangename kennismaking met de mannen van "Flanders Jocks", die ik tot nu toe alleen maar kende van facebook.
Die mannen hadden er al een nacht in de loopgraven op zitten : van realistische omstandigheden gesproken ; )
De loopgraven blijven er nog korte tijd, maar dan blijft alleen nog het monument over.
De locatie is iets ten Zuiden van waar de echte kortstondige verbroederingen plaatsvonden. Of er echt veel werd gevoetbald, laten we in het midden.

On the road to photograph the new
"christmas truce football monument" in Ploegsteert, hoping that it was going to be less crowded than at the inauguration ...
once arrived, there appeared to be a
"Christmas Truce" reenactment.
Normally not really my cup of tea, but I was impressed by the scenery, the costumes and the high realism.
Also a pleasant introduction to the men of "Flanders Jocks", which until then I only knew from facebook.
These men had been staying there for a night in the trenches : talking about realism. ; )
The trenches will remain at this place
for a short time.
The location is just to the south
of where the real Christmas Truce
took place in 1914.
