Foto in zwart-wit, het was een heel sombere dag met weinig kleur... Een begraafplaats met overwegend Canadese graven uit het voorjaar van 1916. Klopt helemaal met de militaire gebeurtenissen in de omgeving. In de foto heb ik enkele plaatsen en afstanden aangeduid. De 'nette' gravenrijen zijn 'special memorials' met markering 'known to be buried in this cemetery' : dit betekent dat de precieze ligging van deze graven niet bekend is. Het oorlogsgeweld ploegde deze plek helemaal om. Slechts enkele grafkruisen stonden nog overeind. Dit zijn de geïsoleerde graven die je verspreid ziet over de begraafplaats...

Photo in black and white, it was a very gloomy day with little color ... A cemetery with predominantly Canadian graves from the spring of 1916. True to the military events in the area. I have indicated some places and distances in the photo. The 'neat' rows of graves are 'special memorials', and marked 'known to be buried in this cemetery': this means that the precise location of these graves is not known. The violence of war plowed this place completely. Only a few grave crosses were still standing. These are the isolated graves that you see, scattered across the cemetery ...
